Rolfe Kent is set to score the upcoming French 3D animated feature 108 Demons (La légende des 108). The film is directed by Pascal Morelli who previously helmed the animated adventure Corto Maltese. The movie inspired by the Chinese novel Outlaws of the Water Margin is set in 12th Century China and follows a 10-year-old prince who teams with outlaws to fight the armies of a tyrannical emperor. Morelli has also co-written the screenplay with Jean Pecheux based on Hugo Pratt’s comicbook. Vincent Roget and Francois Cornuau (Les Brigades du Tigre) of Same Player are producing the project with China’s Fundamental, Belgium’s Scope Pictures and Luxembourg’s Bidibul Productions. 108 Demons is expected to premiere later this year.
Kent’s most recent projects, Labor Day and Vampire Academy are currently playing in theaters. The composer whose film scoring credits include Sideways, Election and Mean Girls also has Jason Bateman’s Bad Words coming up, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is set to be released on March 14 by Focus Features. Coming out in the U.S. on April 4 is the crime comedy Dom Hemingway.
