This week, Christopher Lennertz (The Boys, Lost in Space, Sausage Party, Ride Along, Tom & Jerry, Agent Carter, Supernatural) has recorded his score for the upcoming heist comedy The Pickup. The film is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Barbershop) and stars Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson, Andrew Dice Clay, Eva Longoria, Jack Kesy, Ismael Cruz Cordova, and Marshawn Lynch. No plot details have been announced yet. Matt Mider & Kevin Burrows (The Package) wrote the screenplay. Story is also producing the project with John Davis (Predator, I, Robot) and John Fox (Jungle Cruise, The Equalizer) for Davis Entertainment, as well as Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster (Candy Cane Lane) for Eddie Murphy Productions. Lennertz has previously collaborated with the director on the Ride Along & Think Like a Man movies, as well as the features Shaft, Tom and Jerry and Dashing Through the Snow. The Pickup is expected to be released next year by Amazon MGM Studios.
Lennertz has also recently scored Seth Gordon’s Netflix film Back in Action, which will premiere on January 17, 2025. He also continues to co-score Prime Video’s The Boys, Gen V and Sausage Party: Foodtopia.
