Mark Mancina is currently scoring Disney’s upcoming animated feature Planes. The film is directed by Klay Hall and follows a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer and who must overcome a fear of heights. The movie’s voice cast includes Dane Cook, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Cedric the Entertainer, Val Kilmer, John Cleese, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Carlos Alazraqui, Priyanka Chopra, Roger Craig Smith, Gabriel Iglesias, Oliver Kalkofe and Sinbad. Traci Balthazor-Flynn is producing the project and John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars) is executive producing. Check out the film’s latest trailer, which features original music by Mancina, after the jump. The composer has previously scored a number of films for Disney, including Tarzan and Brother Bear. Mancina has taken over scoring duties from James Seymour Brett who was previously announced as the composer of the film. Planes is set to be released on August 9, 2013 by Walt Disney Pictures. As previously reported, Mancina has also scored Joseph Ruben’s thriller Penthouse North starring Michelle Monaghan and Michael Keaton, which is expected to be released later this year.
Great to see Mancina back in the game. Music in the trailer sounds wonderful and reminded me of a good old Tarzan score.
Is that music in the trailer Mancina’s? I hope it’s not just any another trailer music temp track!
The post itself confirms that. It is Mancina’s score indeed.
Beautiful music, kind of reminds me of REMEMBER THE TITANS by Rabin.
And out goes James Seymour Brett’s score.
According to his Facebook page, James Seymour Brett just recorded his score for “White House Down”, presumably replacing Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander.
He is just the composer and the orchestrator from White House Down..
i mean not composer .. i mean conductor..
Brett’s worked with Kloser and Wanker on some films before.
