Klaus Badelt is scoring the upcoming 3D animated film Jock. The film based on Sir Percy Fitzpatrick’s classic book Jock on the Bushveld is directed by Duncan MacNeillie and marks South Africa’s first 3D animated feature film. While Badelt is writing the orchestral score for the film, the movie also includes original songs by Bryan Adams, Alan Menken and Johnny Clogg among other songwriters. Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aladdin) is the principal lyricist of the songs. Bryan Adams is also voicing the film’s central character of the fearless dog Jock who helps his master survive the wild challenges of the 1880s gold rush in the northeast of what would become South Africa. Donald Sutherland has signed on to narrate the film. The movie is set for a release on July 29, 2011 in South Africa. No information yet on domestic release date.
