Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The comedy Arthur directed by Jason Winer and starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner and Greta Gerwig features music by Theodore Shapiro. A soundtrack with songs from the movie has been released earlier this week by WaterTower Music. No word on a release of Shapiro’s score. Also coming out this week is the family drama Soul Surfer starring AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt. The film’s score is by Marco Beltrami and has been released by Madison Gate Records as reported here. The album can be downloaded on iTunes. A separate soundtrack with songs from the film has been released by Rhino Records this Tuesday.
Also opening this weekend is Joe Wright’s Hanna starring Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams. The film’s music is composed by The Chemical Brothers and the soundtrack is available on Back Lot Music. To download the score and listen to audio clips, visit iTunes. David Gordon Green’s comedy Your Highness starring Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Justin Theroux and Zooey Deschanel also gets a wide release this weekend. The film’s music is by Steve Jablonsky and has been released this week on Varese Sarabande Records. Audio clips are available on Amazon. Opening in limited release is Max Winkler’s comedy Ceremony. The film starring Uma Thurman and Michael Angarano centers on a young guy who crashes the wedding of the thirty-something woman he wants back. The film’s music is by Eric D. Johnson and a soundtrack with songs and the score from the film will be released on Lakeshore Records. The album will be available on April 12 as a digital release on Amazon and a physical CD will come out on April 26, also available on Amazon.
Also opening in limited release is Michael Greenspan’s thriller Wrecked starring Adrien Brody. The film’s score is by Michael Brook and no soundtrack release is expected. For more information on the film, visit our previous article.
Finally, opening in selected IMAX theaters is the documentary Born to Be Wild. The 3D film features an original score by Mark Mothersbaugh. No plans for a soundtrack release have been announced. Check out our article from last year to find out more about the film.
