Four new movies are opening wide over Thanksgiving weekend:

Walt Disney Pictures’ Tangled features songs and score by Alan Menken. Check out our previous article announcing the soundtrack album. A short video interview on the score has been uploaded on YouTube. To listen to lenghty audio interviews with Menken talking about his work on Tangled, visit Film Music Magazine’s On the Score and WDW Radio. Entertainment Weekly also featured an in depth interview with the composer worth checking out. Also check out a short interview Menken did with The Wall Street Journal, as well as a recent article about Menken on LA Times’ Music Blog.

Also opening is the action thriller Faster starring Dwayne Johnson and featuring a score by Clint Mansell. Check out our previous articles on the soundtrack release and the scoring assignment.

James Newton Howard scored Edward Zwick’s comedy drama Love and Other Drugs. Apart from roughly 20 minutes of score, the movie also features a number of songs, but no soundtrack release has been announced so far.

Also opening wide is Steve Antin’s musical Burlesque starring Cher, Christina Aguillera, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci. A soundtrack has been released earlier this week by RCA Records featuring the musical songs in the movie. Click here to listen to audio clips from the album. The movie also features about 15-20 minute of original score by Christophe Beck. None of the score is included on the soundtrack album, but a score audio clip can be found on Beck’s official webpage.

Finally, The King’s Speech opens in limited release this weekend. The movie starring Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush is already considered to be one of the frontrunners in the upcoming Award season. Alexandre Desplat scored the movie and a soundtrack has been released earlier this week as previously reported.
