Terence Blanchard has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Netflix original movie Da 5 Bloods. The film stars Delroy Lindo, Clarke Peters, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Norm Lewis, Chadwick Boseman, Jonathan Majors, Paul Walter Hauser, Jean Reno, Mélanie Thierry and Jasper Pääkkönen. The drama tells the story of four African American vets who return to Vietnam to search for the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure while confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War. Lee also co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Billingsly and Kevin Willmott based on an earlier script by Danny Bilson & Paul DeMeo (The Rocketeer). The director is also producing the project with Lloyd Levin (Hellboy, United 93, Watchmen), Beatriz Levin and Jon Kilik (The Hunger Games, Babel, Foxcatcher). Blanchard has previously scored most of Lee’s features over the last three decades, including Malcolm X, Inside Man, The 25th Hour and last year’s BlacKkKlansman, for which the composer has received his first Academy Award nomination. Da 5 Bloods will premiere in 2020 on Netflix.

Blanchard’s other recent projects include Kasi Lemmons’ Harriet, which is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
