Also opening wide is the comedy Holmes & Watson written and directed by Etan Cohen and starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Rebecca Hall, Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald and Ralph Fiennes. Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO MovieThor: Ragnarok21/22 Jump StreetThe Royal Tenenbaums) has composed the film’s original score. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Glenn Slater have contributed the original song Strange Sensation to the movie. Already playing in limited release since this past Wednesday is the biographical drama On the Basis of Sex directed by Mimi Leder and stars Felicity Jones, Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor and Cailee Spaeny. The film’s original music is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of PiMoneyballCapoteLittle Miss Sunshine). Opening in select theaters today is the biographical comedy drama Stan & Ollie directed by Jon S. Baird and starring Steve Coogan, John C. Reilly, Nina Arianda and Shirely Henderson. The film’s original music is composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Up in the Air, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Election, Legally Blonde, Wedding Crashers). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie, which follows Laurel & Hardy, one of the world’s great comedy teams, as they set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953, premiered at this year’s London Film Festival and is being released by Sony Pictures Classics.
