Some new details about the music for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s upcoming adventure movie Black Gold have surfaced today. As reported a few months ago, James Horner has written the score for the film. The music was recorded last month at Abbey Road Studios in London. The National is reporting that Quatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi worked with Horner on the picture’s opening track, which is supposed to reflect the mood of the soldiers in the film as they prepare for war. He also recorded a traditional Bedouin song with Qatari composer Abdulla Al Mannai. Black Gold tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered. The movie starring Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim, Freida Pinto and Liya Kebede is set to premiere at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival in late October and will be opening in several international territories on November 23, 2011.
