According to a press release by Sony Pictures Classics, Alberto Iglesias has been hired to write the music for the upcoming drama Carnage. The film is directed by Roman Polanski and stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly. The movie is an adaptation of the Tony-winning play God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza who is also responsible for adapting the play to the screen with Polanski. Carnage centers on two pairs of parents one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park, who meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner. However, as the evening goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, resulting in the evening devolving into chaos. The movie marks Iglesias’ first collaboration with the Academy Award-winning director who most recently worked with Alexandre Desplat on last year’s The Ghost Writer. Sony Pictures Classics is planning a release of the film towards the end of the year
As reported earlier on this page, Iglesias also has the thriller The Monk and Pedro Almodovar’s drama The Skin That I Inhabit coming out later this year. It has just been officially announced that The Skin That I Inhabit is premiering at next month’s Cannes Film Festival. Sony Pictures Classics will be distributing the film domestically later this year.
