Paul Englishby has been hired to score the second season of the BBC original series The Musketeers. The show is created by Andrew Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) and stars Luke Pasqualino, Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Peter Capaldi, Maimie McCoy, Tamla Kari and Hugo Speer. The series is set on the streets of 17th century Paris and follows the adventures of Athos, Aramis and Porthos. Hodges is executive producing the project with Jessica Pope. Murray Gold (Doctor Who) has composed the music for the first season, which premiered earlier this year.

‘Sunshine on Leith’ Soundtrack Released
Neapolitan Music has released a soundtrack album for the film adaptation of the stage musical Sunshine on Leith. The album features the songs from the film by movie’s cast. Also included are selections from the film’s original score composed by Paul Englishby (An Education, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day). The soundtrack is now available digitally in the UK and will be released in the UK on October 1, 2013. Click here to listen to audio clips. No word yet on a domestic release date. Sunshine on Leith is directed by Dexter Fletcher and stars Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks, George McKay, Kevin Guthrie, Antonia Thomas and Freya Mavor. The film based on the musical by Stephen Greenhorn follows a young man and a woman who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. The movie is now playing in theaters overseas.
‘Luther’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack release for the BBC series Luther. The album features selections from the show’s original score of the first three seasons composed by Paul Englishby (An Education, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), as well as songs featured in the series by artists including Massive Attack, Nina Simone, Emiliana Torrini, Marilyn Manson, The Heavy, Kasabian and Suede. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 9, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release. Luther created by Neil Cross and executive produced by Phillippa Giles stars Idris Elba as near-genius detective John Luther. The BBC and BBC America co-production premiered in 2010. The third season of the series aired earlier this summer in the UK and is set to premiere in the US on September 3 on BBC America.
Paul Englishby Scoring BBC’s ‘The Great Train Robbery’
Paul Englishby has recently recorded his score for the upcoming BBC mini-series The Great Train Robbery. The two-part movie written by Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch, Camelot) centers the most infamous heist in British history, involving the fleecing of the Royal Mail train in 1963 by a team of thieves that made off with millions of dollars. The first part, A Robber’s Tale, directed by Julian Jarrold (The Girl) and starring Luke Evans, Jack Roth, Neil Maskell, Paul Anderson, Martin Compston,Del Synnott and Jack Gordon tells the story from the robbers’ point of view. The second part, A Copper’s Tale, directed by James Strong (United, Broadchurch) and starring Jim Broadbent, Robert Glenister,Tom Chambers, Tim Pigott-Smith, Tom Beard, James Wilby and James Fox follows the detective charged with bringing the robbers to justice.

Stephen Greenhorn has written screenplay based on his musical, which takes the lyrics of songs from the Scottish pop-folk band The Proclaimers and uses them in story about a young man and a woman who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) & Allon Reich (Dredd, Never Let Me Go) are producing the project for DNA Films and Arabella Page Croft & Kieran Parker (Outpost, Legacy) are producing for Black Camel Pictures.
Paul Englishby Scoring David Hare’s ‘Page Eight’
Paul Englishby is the composer of the upcoming political thriller Page Eight. The BBC production centers on a long-serving M15 officer who is forced to quit his job in order to find the truth behind a mystery file which threatens its stability. The movie stars Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Felicity Jones, Judy Davis and Ewen Bremner. Page Eight is written and directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter David Hare (The Reader, The Hours) who wrote his first original (non-adapted) script in 20 years for the project. Scott Rudin (The Social Network, No Country for Old Men) is acting as one for the film’s executive producer. The project marks Englishby’s first high profile feature project since he scored the 2009 Academy Award-nominated drama An Education starring Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard and Alfred Molina.
