Paul Cantelon is the composer of the upcoming drama Violet & Daisy. The movie is written and directed by Geoffrey Fletcher who won an Academy Award for his adapted screenplay for 2009’s Precious. Saoirse Ronan and Alexis Bledel are playing two teenage assassins who believe they’ve landed a straightforward assignment but soon find themselves thrown off their game when their latest target isn’t who they expected. James Gandolfini and Danny Trejo are co-starring. Fletcher is producing with Bonnie Timmermann and John Penotti (Awake). The project is the second movie scored by Cantelon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Other Boleyn Girl) to premiere this year following The Music Never Stopped, which debuted at Sundance.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (March 18, 2011)
Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The sci-fi comedy Paul is directed Greg Mottola and stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig, Jane Lynch, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader and Seth Rogen as the voice of Paul. The film’s original score is composed by David Arnold. A soundtrack release including Arnold’s score, as well as several songs from the movie has already been released in Europe as reported here. The album is scheduled to come out on April 4, 2011 in the US.
Also opening today is Brad Furman’s legal thriller starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, Ryan Phillippe and William H. Macy. Lakeshore Records has released two different soundtracks including Cliff Martinez’ original score, as well as a song album. Visit our previous article for details on both albums. ‘The Music Never Stopped’ Soundtrack released
Rhino Media has released a soundtrack album for the drama The Music Never Stopped. The album includes one track from Paul Cantelon’s original score, as well as several songs from Grateful Dead, including three previously unreleased live recordings. Other artists featured on the soundtrack are Peggy Lee, Bob Dylan, Steppenwolf, Donovan,The Tulips and Crosby, Stills & Nash. The soundtrack is currently available digitally on Amazon and iTunes and will be released on CD on March 29, 2011. The Music Never Stopped stars J.K. Simmons, Lou Taylor Pucci, Julia Ormond, Tammy Blanchard and Mia Maestro and marks the feature directorial debut for Jim Kohlberg. Roadside Attractions is opening the movie today in limited release.
‘The Music Never Stopped’ to feature a score by Paul Cantelon
Film Music Reporter has learned that Paul Cantelon has recently completed writing the music for the upcoming drama The Music Never Stopped. The films stars Julia Ormond, J.K. Simmons, Tammy Blanchard and Mia Maestro and marks the feature directorial debut for Jim Kohlberg. The movie tells the tale of a father who struggles to bond with his estranged son Gabriel, after Gabriel suffers from a brain tumor that prevents him from forming new memories. The movie will have its premiere at the 2011 Sundance film festival. No release date has been set for The Music Never Stopped, but a release is expected in 2011.
