Laurent Perez Del Mar is set to compose the music for the upcoming dramatic thriller I Kill Giants. The movie is directed by Anders Walter and stars Zoe Saldana, Madison Wolfe, Imogen Poots, Jennifer Ehle and Noel Clarke. The film is based on the 2008 graphic novel of the same title by Joe Kelly and tells the story of a young misfit girl named Barbara battling both real and imaginary monsters in her life. Kelly also wrote the screenplay. Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire) is producing the project through his 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Entertainment company, alongside with Kim Magnusson, Kyle Franke and Adrian Politowski.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Split written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Betty Buckley, Jessica Sula and Haley Lu Richardson. The film’s original music is composed by West Dylan Thordson (Foxcatcher, Joy, The Jinx). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide today is the action sequel xXx: Return of Xander Cage directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Vin Diesel, Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Kris Wu, Michael Bisping, and Samuel L. Jackson. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious series, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Now You See Me) and Robert Lydecker (Sleepy Hollow) have composed the film’s original music. ‘The Red Turtle’ Soundtrack Details
IDOL and Quartet Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Red Turtle. The album features the film’s original music composed by Laurent Perez Del Mar (Zarafa, Fears of the Dark). The soundtrack will be released overseas this Friday, June 24 and in the U.S. later this year or in early 2017. Visit Amazon to download the album and to check out audio samples. The Red Turtle is directed by Michael Dudok de Wit and follows the major life stages of a castaway on a deserted tropical island populated by turtles, crabs and birds. The movie marks the first international co-production of Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke) and is also produced by Wild Bunch.
