Simon Franglen has written an original song for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. The track, entitled The Songcord, is performed by Zoe Saldana and will be featured in the film starring Sam Worthington, Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang. The song and Franglen’s original score from the sequel is expected to be released next month by Hollywood Records. Franglen has previously co-written and -produced the original end credits song I See You (performed by Leona Lewis) from the 2009 Avatar original movie with James Horner and Kuk Harrell (lyrics).

Simon Franglen to Compose Music for James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels
Simon Franglen has been hired to write indigenous songs to be performed on screen by members of various Na’vi clans for James Cameron’s Avatar 2 & 3. The composer is also attached to score the first two sequels (which are being shot simultaneously) to the Academy Award-nominated 2009 film (scored by James Horner) will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Dileep Rao and Matt Gerald who are reprising their roles from the original film. They are joined by Sigourney Weaver (in a new role) and new cast members Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Brendan Cowell, David Thewlis, Vin Diesel and CJ Jones.
James Horner’s ‘Aliens’ Live-to-Picture Concert Announced
The Royal Albert Hall has announced the world premiere performance of James Horner‘s original music for the 1986 sci-fi thriller Aliens performed live-to-picture. The concert will be performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and conducted by Ludwig Wicki. Horner received one of his first two Academy Award nominations for his work on the film directed by James Cameron and starring Sigourney Weaver. The event will take place on Sunday, November 6 at Royal Albert Hall in London. James Horner Talks ‘Avatar’ Sequels
James Horner revealed in an interview with Andrew Freund at the Los Angeles premiere of the IMAX documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes this past Monday that he has “started to get ideas from the filmmakers” about his music for James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar sequels, while it will be a while before he starts recording anything for the project. Avatar 2 is currently scheduled to be released in December of 2017 by 20th Century Fox with two more sequels planned to come out in the following years. James Horner to Conduct World Premiere ‘Titanic’ Live Concert
James Horner will be conducting his music for the Academy Award-winning drama Titanic directed by James Cameron and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet at a live concert on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Royal Albert Hall in London. The composer who received his first two Oscars for both his score and the end credits song My Heart Will Go On in 1998 will conduct a 90-piece orchestra, choir and Celtic musicians whilst the film is projected on the big screen in high definition. Horner previously conducted selections of his music from the film at the world premiere of the 3D re-release in 2012 in London.
James Horner Attends ‘Titanic 3D’ Premiere
Last night, James Horner attended the world premiere of James Cameron’s Titanic 3D at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Before the movie started, the composer conducted an orchestral 20-minute suite from his Academy Award-winning score from the film. ‘Titanic’ Collector’s Anniversary Soundtrack Edition Details
Sony Music is set to re-release the best-selling soundtrack for James Cameron’s Titanic to coincide with the 3D release of the film. The album includes the original music by James Horner who received his first two Academy Awards for his work on the film, including both the score and the Celine Dion-performed song My Heart Will Go On. The reissue will be released on March 27, 2012 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. In addition, the label is also releasing a 4-disc collector’s edition, which includes the newly-remastered version of the original soundtrack, the album Back to Titanic, as well as a previously unreleased disc of period music recorded for the movie by I Salonisti – the five-piece quintet that appears in the film and a new compilation of songs from the early 1900s entitled Popular Music From The Titanic Era. The set is also available for pre-order on Amazon.
David Hirschfelder scoring James Cameron’s Sanctum
David Hirschfelder is attached to score the upcoming action adventure Sanctum. The movie is produced by James Cameron and will be one of the first 3D movies that was shot in 3D and not going through a post-production conversion. In the movie, an underwater cave diving team experiences a life-threatening crisis during an expedition to the unexplored and least accessible cave system in the world. The movie stars Ioann Gruffud, Richard Roxburgh and Alice Parkinson. Sanctum marks another big assignment for Hirschfelder, who scored Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole earlier this year.
