Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack EP for Illumination Entertainment’s animated short Fly Hard. The 4-track features the film’s original score composed by Daniel Rojas (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Hit-Monkey, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., Who Invented Charlie?, Monster High, Starcrossed) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to all four tracks after the jump. Fly Hard is directed by Elisabeth Patte & Hélène Galtier and features the voices of Awkwafina, Jess Harnett, JP Karliak and Jimmy Sandoval.

‘Migration’ Soundtrack Album Details
Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack for Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature Migration. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Shrek, Solo: A Star Wars Story, United 93, Rio, Happy Feet, Horton Hears a Who!). Also included is the cover of Destiny’s Child’s Survivor (in two different versions) performed by Mon Laferte. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 15. ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ Soundtrack Album Details
The details of the soundtrack album for Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature The Super Mario Bros. Movie have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Crazy Rich Asians, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Yellowstone) with original Nintendo themes written by Koji Kondo. Also included is the song Peaches co-written and performed by Jack Black (as Bowser) and Ali Dee’s version of the Mario Brothers Rap. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 7 by Back Lot Music and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. iam8bit will release a CD, vinyl and cassette edition later this year (visit Amazon to pre-order the CD and vinyl versions). The film is directed by Aaron Horvath & Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!) and stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Danny Elfman to Score Illumination’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’
Danny Elfman is set to score the upcoming animated feature How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The film is directed by Pete Candeland & Yarrow Cheney (The Secret Life of Pets) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the title character. The movie is based on Dr. Seuss’ classic tale about the titular grouch who plots to ruin Christmas for the residents of his neighboring village of Whoville. Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree) wrote the screenplay. Chris Meledandri & Janet Healy (Despicable Me, Minions, The Lorax) and Scott Mosier (Free Birds, Dogma, Clerks) are producing the Illumination Entertainment production.

Alexandre Desplat has signed on to score the upcoming animated feature The Secret Life of Pets. The film is directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, The Lorax) & Yarrow Cheney and features the voice talent of Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress and Albert Brooks. The movie revolves around the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Chris Meledandri (Despicable Me series, Minions) is producing the Illumination Entertainment production with Janet Healey. Brian Lynch (Minions, Hop, Puss in Boots) and Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio (Despicable Me, Horton Hears a Who!) have written the screenplay.
Heitor Pereira to Score ‘Minions’ Movie
Heitor Pereira is set to score Universal Pictures’ & Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming animated feature Minions. The film is a spin-off of the hit animated franchise Despicable Me and has been described as an origin story, which establishes that Minions have existed since the beginning of time, in service of history’s most ambitiously evil villains. Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlet Overkill, a stylish super-villain who is bent on world domination and Jon Hamm will lend his voice to her husband, the inventor Herb Overkill. Pierre Coffin who directed both Despicable Me and its sequel is directing the project with Kyle Balda (The Lorax) and Brian Lynch (Puss in Boots, Hop) has written the screenplay.
Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams to Return for ‘Despicable Me 2’
Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams are returning to provide the music for Despicable Me 2, the sequel to the 2010 animated hit film. Pereira is composing the film’s score and Williams is producing and writing new original songs for the project. The movie is directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud who also helmed the first installment. The movie’s voice cast includes Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand and Al Pacino. Christopher Meledandri & Janet Healy (Despicable Me, The Lorax) are producing the Illumination Entertainment production and Ken Daurio & Cinco Paul (Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax) have written the screenplay. Pereira’s and Williams’ music for the original movie was nominated for an Annie Award. Despicable Me 2 is set for a release on July 3, 2013 by Universal Pictures.
John Powell Confirmed to Score ‘The Lorax’
A press release from Universal Pictures has confirmed this week that John Powell is writing the music for the upcoming animated feature The Lorax. The film based on the book by Dr. Seuss centers around a boy who searches for a way to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. He comes across the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. The film’s voice talent includes Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Rob Riggle and Betty White. The movie is directed by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul (writers of Horton Hears a Who! and Despicable Me), as well as Chris Renaud (co-director of Despicable Me). The Lorax is the third feature from Illumination Entertainment after last year’s surprise hit Despicable Me (with music by Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams) and the upcoming Hop (scored by Christopher Lennertz). Powell has previously scored Blue Sky Studios’ Horton Hears a Who!, which was produced by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and was also based on a Dr. Seuss book.
