RCA Records will release the official soundtrack album for Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix original series The Get Down. The album includes the music from the drama, including the songs performed the show’s cast featuring contributions from Elliott Wheeler, Grandmaster Flash and Nile Rodgers, as well as tracks by Nas, Miguel, Christina Aguilera, Zayn, Michael Kiwanuka, Leon Bridges, Jaden Smith, Raury & more. Luhrmann and Nas are executive producing the album. The soundtrack, set to be released on August 12, will be available in two different edition and is now available for pre-order on iTunes (regular edition) and here (deluxe edition). Elliott Wheeler to Score Netflix’s ‘The Get Down’
Elliott Wheeler has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Get Down. The show is created by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, Romeo & Juliet, Australia) & Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Last Resort) and stars Shameik Moore, Justice Smith, Herizen Guardiola, Jaden Smith, Skylan Brooks, Tremaine Browne, Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jimmy Smits and Giancarlo Esposito. The period drama is set in 1970s New York and follows a group of teens struggling to survive and find outlets through music. Luhrmann & Ryan are also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Catherine Martin, Paul Watters, Thomas Kelly, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Marney Hochman.
‘The Great Gatsby’ Soundtrack Details
Warner Bros. Pictures and Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records have announced the details of the soundtrack album for Baz Luhrmann’s epic drama The Great Gatsby. The album features the songs from the film, including Jay-Z’s original track No Church in the Wild, as well as his hit song 100$ Bill. Also included are the original songs Over the Love by Florence + the Machine and Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey, which will also be released as a single on April 23, 2013. Also featured are Beyonce x Andre 3000 (collaborating on Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black), Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock, Coco O. of Quadron, Gotye, Nero and Sia, Jack White (who performs U2’s Love Is Blindness, Bryan Ferry and Emeli Sande. The soundtrack will be released on May 7 in the US and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A deluxe edition with three additional bonus tracks will be available exclusively at Target.
Craig Armstrong to Reunite with Baz Luhrmann on ‘The Great Gatsby’
Craig Armstrong has been hired to score Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming drama The Great Gatsby. The movie based on the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Callan McAuliff. Luhrmann adapted the novel with his writing partner Craig Pierce (Romeo + Juliet) and is also producing the project with Oscar-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (Moulin Rouge!), Douglas Wick (Gladiator), Lucy Fisher (Memoirs of a Geisha), Catherine Knapman & G. Mac Brown (Australia). The novel has spawned several film adaptations in the past, most notably 1974’s version directed by Jack Clayton, starring Robert Redford and featuring music by Nelson Riddle who won the Academy Award for his work on the film. Armstrong has previously scored the director’s Romeo + Juliet, as well as the Oscar-nominated musical Moulin Rouge!, for which he also provided most of the orchestral song arrangements.
