Volker Bertelmann was honored with his first Academy Award for his score for Edward Berger’s Netflix World War I drama All Quiet on the Western Front at tonight’s 95th Oscar ceremony. Bertelmann who also won his first BAFTA Award last month for his work on the movie has previously been Oscar-nominated for 2016’s Lion (co-scored with Dustin O’Halloran). Volker Bertelmann has received his first BAFTA Award for his music for Edward Berger’s Netflix film All Quiet on the Western Freont in the Original Score category at today’s 2023 EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony in London. He has previously been BAFTA-nominated back in 2017 for his music from Garth Davis’ Lion (shared with Dustin O’Halloran). ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ Soundtrack Album Details
Netflix Music will release a soundtrack album for the German Netflix original film All Quiet on the Western Front. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Patrick Melrose, The Old Guard, Ammonite, Adrift, Your Honor). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 28 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. All Quiet on the Western Front is directed by Edward Berger and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Thibault de Montalembert, Edin Hasanović, Daniel Brühl, Adrian Grünewald, Devid Striesow, Andreas Döhler, Friedrich Berger, Jakob Schmidt and Michael Wittenborn. The drama is based on the bestseller of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque and tells the story of a young German soldier on the Western Front of World War I.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the crime comedy Amsterdam directed by David O. Russell and starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Alessandro Nivola, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taylor Swift, Mike Myers, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro. The film’s original score is composed by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Enola Holmes). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as several songs from the movie (including an original track performed by Giveon) today. Also opening wide is the family musical comedy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile directed by Will Speck & Josh Gordon and starring Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, Constance Wu an Winslow Fegley. Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Dear Evans Hansen, The Greatest Showman) have written most of the film’s original songs and Matthew Margeson (Kingsman series, Rocketman, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) has composed the movie’s original score. Earlier this month, Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, The Old Guard, Stowaway, Ammonite) has been recording his score for the upcoming German Netflix original film All Quiet on the Western Front. The movie is directed by Edward Berger and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Daniel Brühl, Devid Striesow, Andreas Döhler, Adrian Grünewald and Sebastian Hülk. The drama is inspired by Erich Maria Remarque’s 1928 bestseller of the same name and follows three youngsters who voluntarily enlist in the German army and discover the soul-destroying horror of World War I as they arrive on the Western Front.
