The details of the concept album/soundtrack for Todd Field’s psychological drama Tár have been revealed. The album features music from and inspired by the movie, including new tracks by the film’s composer Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Women Talking), as well as extracts from major works by Elgar and Mahler. The concept album, which complements the film by presenting completed, real-life versions of the music on which the fictional protagonist is working, will be released digitally and physically this Friday, October 21 by Deutsche Grammophon. Tár is written and directed by Field and stars Cate Blanchett, Noémie Merlant, Nina Hoss, Sophie Kauer, Allan Corduner, Julian Glover and Mark Strong.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (October 7, 2022)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the crime comedy Amsterdam directed by David O. Russell and starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Alessandro Nivola, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taylor Swift, Mike Myers, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro. The film’s original score is composed by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Enola Holmes). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as several songs from the movie (including an original track performed by Giveon) today. Also opening wide is the family musical comedy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile directed by Will Speck & Josh Gordon and starring Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, Constance Wu an Winslow Fegley. Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Dear Evans Hansen, The Greatest Showman) have written most of the film’s original songs and Matthew Margeson (Kingsman series, Rocketman, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) has composed the movie’s original score. Hildur Guðnadóttir to Score Todd Field’s ‘TAR’
Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene) has been hired to score the upcoming drama TAR. The film is written and directed by Todd Field (In the Bedroom, Little Children) and stars Cate Blanchett, Nina Hoss und Noémie Merlant. The movie revolves the first woman to be invited as the lead conductor of a major German orchestra. Field is also producing the project for Standard Film Company, alongside Alexandra Milchan (Street Kings, Righteous Kill) & Scott Lambert (The Terror, Paranoia) for Emjag Productions.
