Talking Heads’ David Byrne (American Utopia, Here Lies Love) has written and produced three original songs for the upcoming Netflix original animated film The Twits. The songs, entitled We’re Not Like Ev’ryone Else, Lullaby & The Problem Is You, are performed by the movie’s voice cast. In addition, he also co-wrote and -performed the end title song Open the Door with Hayley Williams (of the rock band Paramore). Oli Julian (Sex Education, Breeders, Catastrophe, Renegade Nell, The Full Monty, How to Build a Girl) has composed the original score for the animated feature directed by Phil Johnston (Ralph Breaks the Internet), co-directed by Katie Shanahan & Todd Demong and starring Johnny Vegas, Margo Martindale, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez , Timothy Simons, Jason Mantzoukas, Nicole Byer, Alan Tudyk, Charlie Berens, Mark Proksch and Rebecca Wisocky. Amelia Warner (Young Woman and the Sea, Mr. Malcolm’s List, Wild Mountain Thyme, Mum’s List) has teamed up with Sam Thompson (Shark Whisperer, 007: Road to a Million, JFK: One Day in America, Britain and the Blitz) to score the upcoming crime thriller Unidentified. The film is directed by Haifaa Al Mansour (Wadjda, The Perfect Candidate) and stars Mila Al Zahrani and Shafi Al Harthi. The Saudi language movie follows a newly divorced, true crime aficionado who recently lost a child who gets obsessively involved when a lifeless body of a teenage girl is discovered in the desert and is determined to identify the body and uncover the truth. Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for the action comedy The Pickup. The World Soundtrack Academy has announced the nominees for the 2025 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories of Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year and Best Original Song. The winners will be announced at the 25th World Soundtrack Awards ceremony, which will take place on October 15, 2025 at Music Centre De Bijloke during Film Fest Gent.
