Vangelis (born as Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou) has passed away at age 79 in France. The Greek composer has scored numerous films, including Hugh Hudson’s 1981 drama Chariots of Fire, for which he won the Academy Award and also received a Grammy Award nomination, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, for which he was BAFTA- and Golden Globe-nominated and Scott’s 1492: Conquest of Paradise, for which he earned another Golden Globe nomination. His other film scoring credits include Costa-Gavras’ Missing, Koreyoshi Kurahara’s Antarctica, Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty, Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon and Oliver Stone’s Alexander. Hollywood Records & Marvel Music will release three previously unreleased tracks from the score for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The full soundtrack album including the previously released 32 tracks and the three “spoiler” tracks composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Nightmare Before Christmas) will also be available to download tomorrow, May 20. Königskinder has released a soundtrack album for the German film A Stasi Comedy (Stasikomödie). The album features the movie’s original music composed by Malakoff Kowalski (Klappe Cowboy!, Berlin für Helden). A Stasi Comedy is written and directed by Leander Haussmann and stars David Kross, Henry Hübchen, Jörg Schüttauf, Deleila Piasko, Antonia Bill and Tom Schilling. The comedy is set in Communist East Berlin during the early 1980s and tells the story of a man who is hired by the Stasi to infiltrate a subversive countercultural movement and ends up living two lives – one as an underground poet and one as a Stasi agent. The album features the original music from the show’s second season composed by Keefus Ciancia (Killing Eve, London Spy, Nashville, Diana, The Fall, The Motel Life).
