Vangelis (born as Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou) has passed away at age 79 in France. The Greek composer has scored numerous films, including Hugh Hudson’s 1981 drama Chariots of Fire, for which he won the Academy Award and also received a Grammy Award nomination, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, for which he was BAFTA- and Golden Globe-nominated and Scott’s 1492: Conquest of Paradise, for which he earned another Golden Globe nomination. His other film scoring credits include Costa-Gavras’ Missing, Koreyoshi Kurahara’s Antarctica, Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty, Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon and Oliver Stone’s Alexander. The full details of the soundtrack album for Alex Garland’s horror drama Men have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Devs, Archive 81, Luce, Hanna, Free Fire). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 20 by Lakeshore and Invada Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services.
