Deadline is reporting that actor and singer/songwriter Johnny Flynn will compose original music for the Starz original series Lovesong. The drama is developed by Tanya Saracho (Vida) and follows two Mexican American childhood friends living in London who become entangled in a torturous love triangle with the same captivating singer-songwriter. Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD Club series, including a new deluxe soundtrack album for the 2002 action thriller The Bourne Identity directed by Doug Liman and starring Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Clive Owen, Chris Cooper, Brian Cox, Julia Stiles and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The Tumescent Edition features the expanded original score from film composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Happy Feet, Shrek, Bolt, X-Men: The Last Stand, Hancock), including previously unreleased music. Variety is reporting that U2’s Bono and lead guitarist The Edge are in discussions to write and perform an original song and score the drama North Star. The film directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father) is based on the filmmaker’s early life in Northern Ireland and tells the coming-of-age story of a 17-year-old who lives with his rough-around-the-edges father and younger brother and finds his world turned upside down when a teenage orphan moves in to live with them. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album for the French Disney+ mini-series Oussekine. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Evgueni & Sacha Galperine (The Undoing, Scenes from a Marriage, Radioactive, Loveless, The Family, Happening, Wizard of Lies). Vangelis (born as Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou) has passed away at age 79 in France. The Greek composer has scored numerous films, including Hugh Hudson’s 1981 drama Chariots of Fire, for which he won the Academy Award and also received a Grammy Award nomination, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, for which he was BAFTA- and Golden Globe-nominated and Scott’s 1492: Conquest of Paradise, for which he earned another Golden Globe nomination. His other film scoring credits include Costa-Gavras’ Missing, Koreyoshi Kurahara’s Antarctica, Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty, Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon and Oliver Stone’s Alexander.
