nightcrawlerOpening in most theaters this weekend is the thriller Nightcrawler written and directed by Dan Gilroy and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, Maleficent, The Sixth Sense, King Kong). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this month. before-i-go-to-sleepAlso opening wide is the psychological thriller Before I Go to Sleep written and directed by Rowan Joffe, produced by Ridley Scott and starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Anne-Marie Duff. Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Reign of Fire, Johnny English, Charlie’s Angels) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Before I Go to Sleep follows a woman who wakes up every day with no memory as the result of a traumatic accident in her past. Soundtrack for BBC’s ‘The Game’ Announced

The album features the show’s original music composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Counselor, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Awakening). The Game is created by Toby Whithouse and stars Tom Hughes, Brian Cox, Paul Ritter, Shaun Dooley, Chloe Pirrie, Victoria Hamilton, Jonathan Aris and Judy Parfitt. Ian Fraser (1933-2014)

ian-fraserIan Fraser has passed away at age 81 this morning at his home in Los Angeles. The music director and arranger received a total of 32 Emmy Award nominations, more than any other musician in television history. He won the award 11 times, most recently in 1993 for his music direction for the 52nd Presidential Inaugural Gala. He received an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for adapting the song score for 1970’s Scrooge starring Albert Finney. His musical director credits include a number of Christmas in Washington TV specials, the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, numerous TV Academy’s Hall of Fame ceremonies, the SAG 50th Anniversary Celebration, Julie Andrews: The Sound of Christmas and America Salutes Richard Rodgers. marc-streitenfeldMarc Streitenfeld has recently composed the music for the upcoming Poltergeist remake. The film is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) and stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie Dewitt, Jared Harris, Kyle Catlett, Saxon Sharbino, Kennedi Clements and Jane Adams. The movie follows the Bowen family, whose life is suddenly disrupted after a supernatural force takes over their home and begins terrorizing them. David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Oz the Great and Powerful, Robots) has written the screenplay. ‘Walking with the Enemy’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the period drama Walking with the Enemy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Timothy Williams (Sym-Bionic Titan, Red Sky). The composer recorded his score with a 90-piece orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 11, 2014 and physically on February 10, 2015. The film marks the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Men in Black 3, Idiocracy) and stars Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Alison Brie, Craig T. Nelson, Gary Owen and Jay Pharoah. The movie follows a rich, soft-handed investment bank manager who is sentenced to a maximum security prison and hires the streetwise guy who normally washes his car so he can learn how to survive his upcoming prison sentence. Jay Martel & Ian Roberts (Key and Peele) have written the screenplay with Cohen. The film’s original music is composed by Hanan Townshend who previously scored Malick’s To the Wonder and also contributed music to The Tree of Life. Also included are the classical pieces featured in the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to be released on December 2. The Better Angels is written and directed by A.J. Edwards and stars Jason Clarke, Diane Kruger, Brit Marling, Wes Bentley and Braydon Denney. The show is created by Andrew Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) and stars Luke Pasqualino, Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Peter Capaldi, Maimie McCoy, Tamla Kari and Hugo Speer. The series is set on the streets of 17th century Paris and follows the adventures of Athos, Aramis and Porthos. Hodges is executive producing the project with Jessica Pope. beasts-of-no-nationCliff Martinez revealed in a recent interview with Celluloid Tunes during this year’s Ghent Film Festival that he is set to score the upcoming drama Beasts of No Nation. The film is written and directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Idris Elba, Ama K. Abebrese, Grace Nortey, David Dontoh and Opeyemi Fagbohungbe. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala and follows the journey of a boy who is forced to join a group of soldiers in an unnamed West African country. Amy Kaufman (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Sin Nombre), Riva Marker & Daniela Taplin Lundberg (The Kids Are All Right, Grace Is Gone, What Maisie Knew) are producing the Participant Media and Red Crown production.
