The pop punk band All Time Low is providing the soundtrack for the upcoming teen comedy Fan Girl. The film is directed by Paul Jarrett and stars Kiernan Shipka, Meg Ryan, Scott Adsit, Joshua Boone and Bill Sage. The movie follows a 15-year-old teen who lives for making movies and worshiping her favorite band and comes up with an idea that could bring her two passions together. Gina O’Brien (Once More With Feeling) has written the screenplay. Jarrett is also producing the Rosetta Films, Filament Productions and Literally Films production with Nick Huston and Adam Spielberg. Mark Isham is composing the music for the upcoming fantasy romance Fallen. The film is directed by Scott Hicks (Shine, Snow Falling on Cedars, Hearts in Atlantis) and stars Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine, Harrison Gilbertson and Joely Richardson. The movie is based on the YA novel by Lauren Kate and follows a shy teen who is suspected of killing a boy and is sent to Sword and Cross reform school, where she is confronted by frequent supernatural occurrences and it becomes clear that the majority of students are fallen angels on the side of good or evil. Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (The Rookie, Million Dollar Arm) are producing the project for Mayhem Pictures, alongside Bill Johnson & Jim Seibel (The Women, Just Friends) for Lotus Entertainment. The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) announced the performers today for the 5th Annual HMMAs. Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Gregg Alexander will perform the original song Lost Stars from this year’s comedy drama Begin Again, which is performed in the film by Adam Levine and Keira Knightley. It will mark the former New Radicals frontman’s first live performance in 15 years. In addition, Antonio Sanchez will open the awards show with a special drum performance from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman live to a scene from the film. SPACELAB9 and Madison Gate Records have announced a Double LP soundtrack release for the 2009 sci-fi thriller District 9 directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Sharlto Copley. The deluxe expanded edition includes the eleven tracks from the original 30 minute album from 2009, plus an additional eight bonus tracks comprising 25 minutes of previously unreleased original score composed by Clinton Shorter (Contraband, Pompeii, 2 Guns). The soundtrack will be released on November 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere release of the original score for the 1997 animated sci-fi epic Titan A.E. directed by directed by Don Bluth & Gary Goldman and featuring the voices of Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Bill Pullman, John Leguizamo, Nathan Lane and Janeane Garofalo. The album features the composer’s music for the 20th Century Fox production is composed by Graeme Revell (The Chronicles of Riddick, Gotham, Sin City, Daredevil, The Crow, From Dusk Till Dawn), including two bonus tracks. The soundtrack is limited to 1500 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio clips.
Golden State Pops Orchestra to Host ‘Anatomy of a Horror Score’ Fundraiser

This Thursday, October 23, the Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) will host an Anatomy of a Horror Score fundraiser. The event will include a discussion with a group of composers/filmmakers who will talk about their process and philosophy using audio/video samples and in some cases perform excerpts from their work live. Participating composers include Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, World War Z, The Wolverine), Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street, April Fool’s Day), Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Boogeyman, Xena: Warrior Princess) and Nathan Barr (Hostel, True Blood, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever). Also appearing at the event will be writer/director Don Mancini (Child’s Play, Bride of Chucky). The fundraiser will take place at composer Christoper Lennertz’s Sonic Fuel Studios in El Segundo, CA.
