La-La Land Records has announced the details of the first soundtrack release for the 1986 comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off directed by John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck and Mia Sara. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ira Newborn (The Naked Gun, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck), as well as the songs from the movie by The Flowerpot Men, Blue Room, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Yello, The Dream Academy and Wayne Newton. Also included as bonus tracks are source cues and alternate score cues. Netflix has published a video featurette on the music for Marvel’s upcoming series Luke Cage. The video features interviews with composers Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker, actor Mike Colter, as well as A$AP Ferg and Method Man who talk about how each episode is shaped by its score and musical influence. Luke Cage starring Colter, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley and Sônia Braga follows Cage as he becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin. Cowboy Junkies member Michael Timmins is composing the original score for the upcoming biographical drama Maudie. Cristal Records will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s drama Frantz. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi who previously collaborated with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, In the House, Young & Beautiful, Potiche and Angel. Also included the classical pieces from the movie by Chopin and Tchaïkovsky. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 9, 2016. Frantz is written and directed by Ozon and stars Paula Beer, Pierre Niney, Marie Gruber, Ernst Stötzner, Johann Von Bülow and Anton Von Lucke. The movie is set in a small German town in the aftermath of World War I, where a young woman mourning the death of her fiancé forms a bond with a mysterious Frenchman who has arrived to lay flowers on her beloved’s grave.
