Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

beauty-beast-deluxeOpening in most theaters is Disney’s live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast directed by Bill Condon and starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, Audra McDonald and Emma Thompson. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin). He also wrote the movie’s classic songs with Howard Ashman and the new songs with lyricist Tim Rice. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album in two different editions. Click here for the details of both the regular and deluxe edition.

the-belko-experimentAlso opening wide is the horror thriller The Belko Experiment directed by Greg McLean, written and produced by James Gunn and starring Tony Goldwyn, John Gallagher Jr., Adria Arjona, Michael Rooker, John C McGinley, Sean Gunn and Melonie Diaz. Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as two songs performed by Jose Prieto and Gabriela Teran. ‘Going in Style’ Soundtrack Details

going-in-styleWaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for Zach Braff’s crime comedy Going in Style. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, The Spectacular Now, Nerve, (500) Days of Summer) who previously scored Braff’s Wish I Was Here. Also included are songs by Dean Martin, Otis Redding, Jamie Cullum, Sonny Rollins, Mark Ronson, A Tribe Called Quest & more. The soundtrack will be released on March 31, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Going in Style starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Ann-Margret, Joey King, Matt Dillon and Christopher Lloyd follows three buddies who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ to Feature Music by Lorne Balfe

ghost-shellLorne Balfe has composed original music for the upcoming film adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. He is credited as the film’s composer alongside Clint Mansell who was previously announced as the movie’s composer. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the film’s score later this month. The sci-fi adventure is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt. The movie based on the Japanese manga of the same title created by Masamune Shirow will be released nationwide on March 31, 2017 by Paramount Pictures. Sam Phillips & Eric Gorfain Scoring Amazon’s ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’

Sam Phillips and Eric Gorfain have scored the Amazon Studios pilot The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The show is created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and stars Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle. The drama is set in 1958 Manhattan tells the story of Miriam “Midge” Maisel whose perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn. Sherman-Palladino has also directed the pilot and is executive producing the project with Daniel Palladino. Phillips has previously scored all episodes of Sherman-Palladino’s Gilmore Girls and last year’s Netflix revival of the series, as well as ABC Family’s Bunheads. Read the rest of this entry »

‘The Boss Baby’ Soundtrack Details

boss-babyThe full details of the soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight) and Steve Mazzaro (Bullet to the Head). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 24, 2017 by Back Lot Music and physically the following week. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. The Boss Baby is directed by Tom McGrath and features the voice talent of Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow and Miles Bakshi. The movie is based on the book by Marla Frazee and follows a suit-wearing briefcase-carrying baby who pairs up with his seven-year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co. The show is created by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster (Transparent, The Motel Life) and stars John Hawkes, Dawnn Lewis, Shea Whigham and Anjelika Washington. The comedy centers around the life of Frank Lafount, a.k.a. Master Legend – a homemade superhero whose mission is to protect the people of Las Vegas from evil-doers. James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, The End of the Tour, Smashed) has directed the pilot. Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster are also executive producing the project with Youree Henley (20th Century Women, The Bling Ring), Joshuah Bearman and David Klawans (Nacho Libre). The album features music inspired by the movie by artists including new tracks by DJ Shadow, Gary Numan, Johnny Jewel, Above & Beyond and Tricky. Also included is Steve Aoki’s remix of Kenji Kawai’s Utai IV: Reawakening, which is already available as a digital single. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 31, 2017 and can now be pre-ordered on Amazon. Soundtrack for Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ to Be Released

The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Trevor Morris (Immortals, Olympus/London Has Fallen, Vikings, The Tudors, The Borgias). Also included is Anderson .Paak’s Come Down. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 17 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Iron Fist is developed by Chris Buck based on the Marvel Comics property and stars Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey and Rosario Dawson. The series centers on billionaire Danny Rand who resurfaces 15 years after being presumed dead and, with the power of the Iron Fist, seeks to reclaim his past and fulfill his destiny.
