Imprisoned is written and directed by Paul Kampf and stars Laurence Fishbourne, Juan Pablo Raba, Juana Acosta, John Heard and Esai Morales. The movie centers on a man who attempts to move on from his former life as a criminal and soon realizes that his past will continue to haunt him, when he learns the new local prison warden has not forgiven him for an old crime. Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, Gloria Bell, Life in a Day) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary The Cave. The film is directed by Feras Fayyad (One Day in Aleppo) and follows the documentarian as he returns to his native, wartorn Syria to follow a dedicated team of female doctors who tirelessly treat casualties in an underground hospital while battling systemic sexism. Premiering tomorrow, September 2, is the documentary Untouchable directed by Ursula Macfarlane. The movie chronicles the recent fall of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and his years of alleged abuse. The film’s original music is composed by Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Mrs. Wilson, This Beautiful Fantastic, Calibre, The Imposter). The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
Also premiering tomorrow is Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe: The Movie co-written and directed by Rebecca Sugar and starring Zach Callison, Estelle, Michaela Dietz and Deedee Magno Hall. Aivi Tran & Steven Velema (aka Aivi & Surasshu) have composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe: The Movie. The album features the songs from the film written by Rebecca Sugar, among others and performed by the movie’s voice cast and artists including Chance The Rapper, Estelle, Patti LuPone, Uzo Aduba, Gallant and Aimee Mann. The soundtrack will be released digitally this coming Monday, September 2 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A deluxe vinyl edition with additional eight bonus tracks is set to come out on November 15 and can be pre-ordered here. Steven Universe: The Movie is co-written and directed by Sugar based on the hit animated TV series and features the voices of Zach Callison, Estelle, Michaela Dietz and Deedee Magno Hall. Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in around 900 theaters is the thriller Don’t Let Go directed by Jacob Estes and starring David Oyelowo, Storm Reid, Mykelti Williamson, Brian Tyree Henry and Alfred Molina. The film’s original music is composed by Ethan Gold (The Song of Sway Lake). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the drama Bennett’s War written and directed by Alex Ranarivelo and starring Michael Roark, Trace Adkins, Allison Paige, Ali Afshar, Tony Panterra, Hunter Clowdus, Brando Eaton and Michael King. Jamie Christopherson (American Wrestler: The Wizard, Running Wild, Dirt) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release.
