Rachel Portman is scoring the upcoming biographical drama Diana. The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall, The Experiment) and stars Naomi Watts in the title role alongside Naveen Andrews who portrays the heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan. The film centers on the last two years of Princess Diana’s life and the secret love affair she had shortly before her tragic death. Douglas Hodge, Geraldine James, Charles Edwards and Juliet Stevenson are co-starring. Stephen Jeffreys (The Libertine) wrote the screenplay and Robert Bernstein & Douglas Rae (Becoming Jane, The Water Horse, Nowhere Boy) are producing the project for Ecosse Films. Diana has recently been picked up by Entertainment One for domestic distribution.

Jon Brion Scoring ‘Starbuck’ Remake ‘Delivery Man’
Jon Brion is currently scoring the upcoming comedy Delivery Man. The film written and directed by Ken Scott is a remake of the director’s French-Canadian 2011 film Starbuck and stars Vince Vaughn, Chris Pratt, Cobie Smulders, Britt Robertson and Jack Reynor. The movie follows a man who is informed that he has fathered 533 children via sperm donations he made twenty years earlier. When a few hundred of the children want to meet their father, he must decide whether or not he will step up and reveal his identity. Andre Rouleau (Goon, An American Haunting) is producing the DreamWorks Pictures production and Scott Mednick, Ray Angelic (Synecdoche, New York) and Mark Sourian are executive producing.
Chan Kwong Wing Scoring Keanu Reeves’ ‘Man of Tai Chi’
Chan Kwong Wing is scoring the upcoming martial arts action drama Man of Tai Chi. The Chinese-American co-production marks the directorial debut of Keanu Reeves who also stars in the film alongside Iko Uwais, Tiger Chen and Karen Mok. The movie is set in modern day Beijing and follows the spiritual journey of a young martial artist whose skills places him in position to experience opportunities and sacrifices. Michael G. Cooney wrote the screenplay and Lemore Syvan (Sherrybaby, Henry’s Crime) is producing the Village Roadshow Pictures Asia, China Film Group and Wanda Media Group. Chan Kwong Wing’s previous film scoring credits include such titles as Internal Affairs, The Warlords, The Last Tycoon and Dragon.
‘Effie Gray’ to Feature Music by Paul Cantelon
Paul Cantelon has composed the score for the period drama Effie Gray. The film is directed by Richard Laxton (An Englishman in New York) and stars Dakota Fanning, Emma Thompson, Greg Wise, Tom Sturridge, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane and Derek Jacobi. The movie centers on the unfortunate marriage between Euphemia Gray and the famed critic John Ruskin in 1840’s London. Thompson stars as Lady Eastlake, an art critic and historian who was also one of Gray’s friends. Thompson also wrote the screenplay and Don Rosenfeld & Andreas Roald (Voyage of Time) are producing the project for Sovereign Films. Effie Gray is expected to premiere later this year.
Christopher Gunning Scoring ‘Grace of Monaco’
Christopher Gunning is composing the score for the upcoming biographical drama Grace of Monaco. The film is directed by Olivier Dahan and stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia are co-starring.The movie is set in 1962 and centers on the Oscar-nominated actress as she is being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws by French leader Charles de Gaulle. Arash Amel (Erased) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam (Colombiana, Hitman) for Stone Angels and Uday Chopra for YRF Entertainment.
Patrick Doyle to Reunite with Kenneth Branagh on Disney’s ‘Cinderella’
Patrick Doyle is attached to score Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of Cinderella. Lily James (Downton Abbey) is set to star in the title role and Cate Blanchett is playing the evil stepmother. Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Prince Charming. Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) and Chris Weitz (About a Boy) are writing the screenplay based on the classic fairy tale. Tim Minchin to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Larrikins’
Tim Minchin has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Larrikins. The film is based on an original idea written by Harry Cripps (Supernova) and tells the story of an uptight bilby (a desert-dwelling marsupial), who has lived a sheltered life in the safety of his family burrow. When he ventures out and becomes privy to a dangerous secret, he finds himself launched on a musical adventure across the mystical and untamed Australian outback. Christina Steinberg (Rise of the Guardians, National Treasure) is producing the project. DreamWorks has announced that Minchin will likely take on a larger creative role in addition to writing the music and lyrics for the film. Minchin is best known for co-writing Matilda the Musical which was awarded a 2012 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and is currently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical Score. Larrikins marks the Australian comedian/musician’s first major studio film project. No release date has been announced yet.
‘Paranoia’ to Feature Music by Junkie XL
Junkie XL is currently scoring the upcoming thriller Paranoia. The film is directed by Robert Luketic and stars Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, Amber Heard, Josh Holloway, Embeth Davitz, Richard Dreyfuss, Julian McMahon and Lucas Till. The movie follows a lower-middle-class kid trying to do better for his dad by getting involved in the world of corporate espionage between two rival companies. Jason Dean Hall (Spread) and Barry Levy (Vantage Point) co-wrote the screenplay. Alexandra Milchan (Street Kings, Righteous Kill), Scott Lambert of Film and Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham) are producing the project.

Dickon Hinchliffe is the composer of the upcoming indie comedy drama Hateship, Loveship. The film is directed by Liza Johnson (Return) and stars Kristen Wiig, Guy Pearce, Hailee Steinfeld, Nick Nolte, Christine Lahti and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The movie on follows a nanny who is set up romantically by the granddaughter of an old man she takes care of. Mark Poirier (Smart People, Goats) wrote the screenplay based on Alice Munro’s novel Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage. Dylan Sellers (Footloose, Agent Cody Banks), Cassian Elwes (The Paperboy, Men at Work), Robert Ogden Barnum, Jamin O’Brien, Michael Benaroya (Margin Call, Lawless) are producing the Benaroya Pictures production.
Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice to Score ‘Song One’
According to The Hollywood Reporter/Billboard, Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice are set to score the upcoming musical drama Song One. The movie stars Anne Hathaway, Mary Steenburgen and British folk artist Johnny Flynn and follows a young woman who develops a relationship with her comatose brother’s favorite indie rock star. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Kate Barker-Froyland who also wrote the screenplay. Christopher Woodrow (The Immigrant, Blood Ties) and Molly Conners are producing the project alongside Hathaway, Marc Platt (Drive, Wanted, Legally Blonde), Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) and Adam Shulman. It has previously been reported that duo is also writing original songs for the project.
