La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2015 sci-fi/action movie Terminator Genisys directed by Alan Taylor and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Byung-Hun Lee, Matt Smith and JK Simmons. The album features the film’s expanded original score composed byLorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead Reckoning, Black Widow, Top Gun: Maverick, Bad Boys for Life, His Dark Materials, Black Adam, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Wheel of Time). The 2-CD set, which is limited 21,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples. Skydance Productions & Paramount Pictures have previously released the original 2015 soundtrack album.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Scoring Jeremy Saulnier’s ‘Slayground’
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Soul, Watchmen, Challengers, Gone Girl, Soul, TRON: Ares, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mank) have been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Slayground. The film is written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Rebel Ridge) and stars Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, James Badge Dale, Stephen Root, Stanley Simons, Chris Sullivan, Young Mazino, Matty Matheson, Imogen Poots and Macon Blair. The movie follows a “scare-actor” who wakes up in a haunted attraction surrounded by the dead bodies of his co-workers with no memory of how they got there and – as a state-wide manhunt closes in – races to uncover the truth.
‘Game Master’ Soundtrack Album Released
XANADU has released a soundtrack album for the French fantasy comedy Game Master (Le Roi du Game).The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ludovic Bource (The Artist, OSS 117, On the Other Side of the Tracks, Clear History, Little Nicholas: Happy as Can Be, The Rookie Guide). Game Master is directed by Éric Judor and stars Judor himself, Alexandra Lamy, Marc Labrèche, Hafid Benamar and Liona Bordonaro. The movie follows a father who joins a live-action medieval-fantasy role-playing game to reconnect with his estranged daughter, leading to a zany and chaotic adventure.
Christopher Bear Scoring Hulu’s ‘Phony’
Christopher Bear (of the rock band Grizzly Bear) (Past Lives, Roofman, Adults, High Maintenance, Carolina Caroline, Mother, Couch, Omaha, Swallowed, The Passenger) is scoring the new Hulu original series Phony. The show is created by Nick Paley (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and stars Connie Britton, Sam Nivola, Meera Syala, Grace Brennan, Mahaela Park, Maliq Johnson and Colter Lee. The coming-of-age mystery revolves around a teenager who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom – his only parent and his best friend – appears to have been replaced by an impostor.
The Ivors Composer Awards Nominations Announced
The Ivors Academy has announced the nominees for The Ivors Composer Awards, sponsored by PRS for Music in association with BBC Radio 3, which celebrate excellence in composition across genres and disciplines, from film, television and video games to concert halls, community engagement and live performance. The Academy’s categories for Best Original Film Score and Best Original Television Score, historically recognized at The Ivors in spring – have been moved to a new awards ceremony, The Ivors Composer Awards in November. A brand-new category celebrating Best Original Documentary Score has been added for the first time this year. The Ivors Composer Awards will held on November 17 in London, hosted by radio presenter Petroc Trelawny, with BBC Radio 3 as broadcast partner. The ceremony will be part of The Ivors Composer Week, taking place from November 16-20 to broaden the celebration and empowerment of composers further.
Expanded ‘An American Tail: Fievel Goes West’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1991 animated feature An American Tail: Fievel Goes West directed by Phil Nibbelink & Simon Wells and starring Phillip Glasser, James Stewart, Erica Yohn, Cathy Cavadini, Dom DeLuise, Nehemiah Persoff, Amy Irving, John Cleese and Jon Lovitz. The album features the newly remastered and expanded original score from the Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Aliens, Legends of the Fall), including previously unreleased music. Also included are all original songs from the film written by Horner & Will Jennings, including the Golden Globe-nominated Dreams to Dream. The 2-CD set is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. MCA Records has released the original 1991 soundtrack album. Intrada has previously released an expanded version of Horner’s score from the 1986 original An American Tail movie back in 2019.
Carl-Johan Sevedag Scoring Ken Sanzel’s ‘Best Pancakes in the County’
Carl-Johan “OA” Sevedag (Borg vs McEnroe, Horizon Line, Hellhole, Opponent, Red Dot, The Villain of Villains, 13 Days Till Summer) has composed the original music for the upcoming action thriller Best Pancakes in the County. The film is directed by Ken Sanzel (Kill Chain, Blunt Force Trauma) and stars Nicolas Cage, Justin Long, Shelley Hennig, Lauren German, Ravi Patel, Michael Sirow and Michael Sirow. The movie is set over the course of one night at an unassuming small-town diner that is the epicenter of a deadly standoff involving rogue federal agents, a fast-talking con man with a dangerous past and a waitress harboring secrets of her own.
‘Little Darlings’ World Premiere Soundtrack Release Announced
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1980 teen comedy drama Little Darlings directed by Ron Maxwell and starring Tatum O’Neal, Kristy McNichol, Armand Assante, Matt Dillon, Nicolas Coster, Maggie Blye and Marianne Gordon. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Charles Fox (9 to 5, National Lampoon’s European Vacation, Short Circuit 2, Foul Play, Bug). Also included are demo versions of two unused original songs written by Fox and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager. iMusician & Noi Music Publishing have released a soundtrack album for the German/Swiss/British period drama The Education of Jane Cumming. The album features the film’s original music composed by Balz Bachmann (The Sparrow in the Chimney, Yalom’s Cure, When We Were Sisters, Hidden Reserves). Mick Giacchino Scoring Jorge Michel Grau’s ‘Surviving Hurricane Otis’
Mick Giacchino (The Penguin, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, The Muppets Mayhem, Extinct, Zootopia+, That Dirty Black Bag) has composed the original score for the new Mexican Netflix original film Surviving Hurricane Otis (Contra el Huracán). The movie is directed by Jorge Michel Grau (We Are What We Are, Perdida) and stars Benny Emmanuel, Kristyan Ferrer, Mónica Del Carmen, Mónica Jiménez, Andrew Leland Rogers, Gonzalo Vega Jr., Teté Espinoza, Octavio Michel Grau and Roberto Cázares. The drama follows a young man and his half-brother who are trapped when a tropical storm quickly transforms into Category 5 Hurricane Otis off the coast of Acapulco and – distanced and with more differences than things in common – will have to learn to trust each other to survive.
