Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Birds of Prey, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Enola Holmes, Ocean’s 8) is composing the original music for National Geopgrahic’s upcoming Disney+ docuseries Welcome to Earth. The show is hosted by Will Smith and follows the actor/filmmaker on an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime adventure around the world to explore Earth’s greatest wonders and reveal its most hidden secrets. In each episode, he is guided by elite explorers to get up close and personal with some of the most thrilling spectacles on the planet. Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream) & Ari Handel are executive producing the 6-parter for Protozoa Pictures, alongside Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter (I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness) & Miguel Melendez (Hawthorne) for Westbrook Studios, as well as Matt Renner and Chris L. Kugelman for National Geographic. Pemberton has previously contributed music to the Aronofsky – & Handel-produced docuseries One Strange Rock for Protozoa. Welcome to Earth is set to premiere this December on Disney+.
Pemberton has also scored National Geographic’s feature documentary The Rescue, which premiered at several film festivals this month and will be released in select theaters on October 8. The composer’s other upcoming projects include DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys and the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel.
