Opening semi-wide in around 550 theaters is the crime thriller City of Lies directed by Brad Furman and starring Johnny Depp, Forest Whitaker, Rockmond Dunbar, Shea Whigham, Xander Berkeley, Neil Brown Jr., Wynn Everett, Louis Herthum, Toby Huss and Shamier Anderson. Chris Hajian (The Infiltrator, The Take, Woody Woodpecker, Critical Thinking) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows a successful developer who returns to the blue-collar Philly neighborhood of his youth to face a crossroads, is being released by IFC Films.
Opening in select U.S. theaters and in virtual cinemas is the Irish psychological thriller Rose Plays Julie written and directed by Christine Molloy & Joe Lawlor and starring Ann Skelly, Orla Brady, Aidan Gillen, Catherine Walker, Annabell Rickerby, Joanne Crawford, Alan Howley and Sadie Soverall. The film’s original music is composed by Stephen McKeon (Pilgrimage, The Hole in the Ground, Norm of the North). Moonflower Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year.
