Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, A Mighty Heart, Deep State) is currently scoring the upcoming Netflix limited series The English Game. The show is written by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park) and stars Edward Holcroft, Kevin Guthrie, Charlotte Hope, Craig Parkinson, James Harkness, Niamh Walsh, Gerard Kearns, Joncie Elmore, Sam Keeley, Daniel Ings and Kate Dickie. The 6-part drama charts the origins of football and how those involved in its creation reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world’s most popular sport. Fellowes is also executive producing the project with 42’s Rory Aitken, Eleanor Moran & Ben Pugh (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Collide). Escott has previously scored 42’s feature Welcome to the Punch and the production company’s TV series Wild Bill. The English Game will premiere in 2020 on Netflix.
Escott has also recently contributed music for Michael Winterbottom’s comedy Greed starring Steve Coogan, David Mitchell, Isla Fisher, Shirley Henderson and Asa Butterfield. The movie, which cenert on the grotesque inequality between a retail billionaire and the female garment workers who toil on his trendy clothing line, premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for a U.S. theatrical release in 2020.
