Alexandre Desplat confirmed in a recent interview with Arturia (embedded after the jump) that he is reuniting with Wes Anderson on the upcoming stop-motion animated feature Isle of Dogs. The movie is written and directed by Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore) and features the voices of F. Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban, Bud Cort, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray, Kunichi Nomura, Edward Norton, Yoko Ono, Koyu Rankin, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Akira Takayama & Frank Wood. The film is set in Japan and follows a boy’s odyssey in search of his dog. Anderson is also producing the Indian Paintbrush production with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network), Steven Rales & Jeremy Dawson (Me and Early and the Dying Girl). Desplat has previously scored Anderson’s last three features, including the animated Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel, for which he received his first Academy Award. Isle of Dogs will be released on April 20, 2018 by Fox Searchlight.
Desplat’s other upcoming projects include George Clooney’s Suburbicon and Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, both of which will premiere at the Venice & Toronto Film Festivals, as well as Thomas Vinterberg’s Kursk. He also recently scored Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which is now playing in theaters, as well as Roman Polanski’s Based on a True Story, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics.
