Chris Westlake (Before We Go, Small Town Crimes, Transit) is the composer of the upcoming Paramount+ original animated series Golden Axe. The show is created by Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty) & Joe Chandler (American Dad) based on SEGA’s video game of the same name and stars Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre and Carl Tart. The series follows legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they reunite to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just won’t seem to stay dead and are forced to work with Hampton Squib, an inexperienced and wildly underprepared adventurer whose dream of heroism far exceeds his abilities. as Chronos “Evil” Lait, an uncomfortably cheesy humanoid panther. McMahan & Chandler are also executive producing the CBS’ Eye Animation, Sony Pictures Television & Original Film production with SEGA’s Haruki Satomi, Shuji Utsumi & Toru Nakahara (Knuckles) will also executive produce alongside Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious, 21/22 Jump Street), Pavun Shetty (The Boys, S.W.A.T.) and Toby Ascher (Sonic the Hedgehog, Spenser Confidential). Titmouse serves as the animation studio for the series with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio & Ben Kalina (Big Mouth, The Mighty Nein) serving as executive producers. Westlake has previously collaborated with McMahan on the animated shows Solar Opposites and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Golden Axe will premiere on September 16, 2026 exclusively on Paramount+.
