Composer Theodore Shapiro (Severance, The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, Bombshell, Marley & Me) is reteaming with director Paul Feig (Bridesmaid, The Heat) on the upcoming thriller The Housemaid. The film is based on the bestselling book of the same title by Freida McFadden and stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins. The movie follows a young woman who accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the a wealthy couple, but what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into aa seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Rebecca Sonnenshine (Archive 81, The Keeping Hours) wrote the screenplay. Feig is also producing the Hidden Pictures & Pretty Dangerous Pictures production with Todd Lieberman (Beauty and the Beast, Wonder) and Laura Fischer. Shapiro has previously scored Feig’s last seven features, including Spy, Ghostbusters, A Simple Favor, Last Christmas, The School for Good and Evil, Jackpot! and this year’s Another Simple Favor. The Housemaid will be released in theaters nationwide on December 19, 2025 by Lionsgate.
Shapiro’s other recent projects include Jay Roach’s The Roses, which has just been released last month and is currently playing in theaters. He will also return to score the third season of Apple TV+’s Severance.
