Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Adrift, The Old Guard, Hotel Mumbai, Patrick Melrose) has signed on to score the upcoming Amazon original movie Road House. The film is directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Lukas Gage, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Hannah Love Lanier, B.K. Cannon, Travis Van Winkle, Arturo Castro, Beau Knapp, Dominique Columbus and Bob Menery. The action drama is based on the 1989 feature of the same title (scored by Michael Kamen) and follows former a UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough roadhouse in the Florida Keys and discovers that not everything is as it seems. Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys) and Charles Mondry wrote the screenplay. Joel Silver (The Matrix, Die Hard) is producing the project for Silver Pictures. Road House is currently in post-production. No release date has been announced yet.
Bertelmann’s other recent projects include Marc Turtletaub’s Jules, which premiered at this year’s Sonoma International Film Festival and has been picked up by Bleecker Street for a release in U.S. theaters on August 11, 2023.
