Also opening nationwide is the slasher sequel The Strangers: Chapter 3 directed by Renny Harlin and starring Madelaine Petsch, Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath. The film’s original music is composed by Justin Burnett (Dungeons & Dragons,An American Haunting, 9-1-1: Lone Star & Nashville, Getaway, Java Heat) who previously scored 2024’s first chapter and last year’s second chapter. The third and final part of a new trilogy, which follows the sole survivor of The Strangers’ murdering spree as she faces the masked killers one last time in a brutal, full-circle reckoning of survival and revenge, is being distributed by Lionsgate.
Also opening wide is the supernatural horror feature Whistle directed by Corin Hardy and starring Dafne Keen, Nick Frost, Sophie Nelisse, Ali Skovbye and Michelle Fairley. The movie, which follows a misfit group of unwitting high school students who stumble upon a cursed, ancient Aztec Death Whistle and discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down, premiered at last year’s Fantastic Fest and is being distributed by the Independent Film Company & Shudder.
Opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend following an awards-qualifying release in November is the Spanish/French drama Sirât co-written and directed by Óliver Laxe and starring Sergi López, Brúno Nuñez, Stefania Gadda, Joshua Liam Henderson, , Tonin Janvier, Jade Oukid and Richard Bellamy. The film’s Golden Globe-nominated and Oscat-shortlisted original music is composed by electronic music producer Kangding Ray. Invada Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the artist’s score last October.
