Alf Clausen passed away yesterday at age 84 at his home in Los Angeles after battling Parkinson’s disease. The composer is best known for his music for the Fox animated hit show The Simpsons, which he scored between 1990 and 2017 and for which he received two Emmy Awards and 23 Emmy Award nominations. His other scoring credits include ACB’s Moonlighting, for which he received six additional Emmy Award nominations, the NBC sitcom ALF, the ABC/Fox adult animated series The Critic, the CBS sitcom Bette, as well as the 1998 feature comedy Half Baked. He also served as an orchestrator on numerous films, including The Naked Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Weird Science and The Beastmaster. Clausen’s daughter, Kaarin, announced the news of her father’s passing on social media.
