Composer Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Up in the Air, Wedding Crashers, Election, Mean Girls, About Schmidt, Freaky Friday) is reuniting with director Jon S. Baird (Filth, Tetris) on the upcoming comedy drama Everything’s Going to Be Great. The film starring Allison Janney, Bryan Cranston, Jack Champion, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Simon Rex & Chris Cooper revolves around a couple leading an unpredictable life in regional theater while trying to raise their radically different sons, a hunky football star and his flamboyant, theater-loving younger brother, who unexpectedly have to move in with he mother’s estranged brother. Steven Rogers (I, Tonya, Stepmom) wrote the screenplay. He is also producing the project with Alex Lalonde (The Desperate Hour) and Bryan Unkeless (Birds of Prey, The Watcher). Kent has previously collaborated with Baird on the feature Stan & Ollie and the TV series Stonehouse. Everything’s Going to Be Great will be released in theaters nationwide on June 20 by Lionsgate.
Kent’s recent projects also include Kristin Scott Thomas’ feature directorial debut My Mother’s Wedding, which premiered (under the title North Star) at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on August 8 by Vertical.
