Opening semi-wide in around 700 U.S. theaters this weekend is the period psychological horror drama The Damned directed by Thordur Palsson and starring Odessa Young and Joe Cole. The film’s original music composed by Stephen McKeon (Evil Dead Rise, The Hole in the Ground, Pilgrimage, Queen & Country, Norm of the North, The Cellar, Rose Plays Julie). Moonflower Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last July following the movie’s premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details and to learn more about the film, which is being distributed by Vertical.
Opening in New York today before expanding to more markets in the coming months is the documentary The Last Republican directed by Steve Pink who gets invited by Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinge to follow his efforts to hold Donald Trump accountable for the January 6 insurrection. Logan Nelson (Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, Nothing Lasts Forever, Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer, Crows Are White, The Sanctity of Space, Straight Up) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release for the movie, which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and is being released by Media Courthouse Documentary Collective.
