Premiering in the U.S. on Thursday, October 17, is the British sci-fi series Midwich Cuckoos: Village of the Damned developed by David Farr based on John Wyndham’s classic novel of the same title and starring Keeley Hawes, Max Beesley, Synnøve Karlsen, Samuel West, Cherrelle Skeete, Lara Rossi, Aisling Loftus, Ukweli Roach, Rebekah Staton, Lewis Reeves and Anneika Rose. The show’s original music is composed by Hannah Peel (Rogue Agent, Scoop, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, Insomnia, The Deceived). Invada Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score when the sci-fi drama premiered in the UK on Sky in 2022. Also premiering in the U.S. on Thursday is the British series Passenger created by Andrew Buchan and starring Wunmi Mosaku, David Threlfall, Rowan Robinson, Jo Hartley, Arian Nik, Barry Sloane, Natalie Gavin, Jack James Ryan and Nico Mirralegro. Keaton Henson (Supernova, Anne Boleyn, Something Better to Come) has composed the show’s original music. Also premiering on Thursday is the Netflix original anime series Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance written by Gavin Hignight, directed by Erasmus Brosdau and starring Celia Massingham, Lavance, James Watt, Andrew Woolner, Daniel Wishes and Maxwell Powers. The show’s original music is composed by Wilbert Roget, II (Star Wars: Outlaws, Mortal Kombat 11, Call of Duty: WWII, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Helldivers II). The 6-parter, which focuses on the European front of the One Year War, which was the setting of the first Gundam series Mobile Suit Gundam, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering on Friday, October 18, is the British Hulu/Disney+ original series Rivals based on the novel of the same title by Jilly Cooper and starring Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Bella Maclean, Nafessa Williams, Katherine Parkinson and David Tennant. Natalie Holt (Loki, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Knightfall, Journey’s End, Herself, Beecham House, Press) and Jack Halama (Who Is Erin Carter?, Traces, Rogue, Kindred, Too Close) have composed the show’s original music. Also premiering on Friday is the NBC comedy Happy’s Place created by Kevin Abbott & Julie Abbott and starring Reba McEntire, Belissa Escobedo, Tokala Black Elk, Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn and Pablo Castelblanco. The show’s original score is composed by Doug Sisemore (Malibu Country). MCA Nashville has released the series’ theme song co-written (with Carole King & Sisemore) and performed by McEntire this past Friday. Also premiering on Friday is the Hulu original documentary Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara directed by Erin Lee Carr about the global rise of the Canadian pop duo and their at once liberating and fraught relationship with social media. Chanell Crichlow (My Fake Boyfriend, The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring) and Michael Tuller (Animal World, Reversion) have composed the film’s original music. The movie premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
