Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature Transformers One directed by Josh Cooley and starring Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne. Also opening wide is the satirical body horror movie The Substance written and directed by Coralie Fargeat and starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, Hugo Diego Garcia, Joseph Balderrama and Dennis Quaid. Raffertie (The Continental: From the World of John Wick, White DragonBull, One Way, Zone 414) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening nationwide is the psychological horror thriller Never Let Go directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Halle Berry, Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins. The film’s original music is composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Revenge, ManiacGretel & Hansel, Amityville: The Awakening, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Oxygen, Other People’s Children). Opening in New York and Los Angeles today before expanding to more markets in the coming weeks is the comedic psychological thriller A Different Man written and directed by Aaron Schimberg and starring Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson. Umberto Smerilli (The Bunker Game, Worldly Girl) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows an aspiring actor who undergoes a radical medical procedure to drastically transform his appearance, when his face quickly turns into a nightmare, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by A24.

Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Apple TV+ next Friday, September 27, is the action comedy Wolfs written and directed by Jon Watts and starring Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Amy Ryan, Poorna Jagannathan and Austin Abrams. The film’s original music is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Severance, The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic ThunderBombshell, Ghostbusters, Destroyer, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Marley & MeSpy). Also opening in select theaters is the medical drama/thriller A Mistake written and directed by Christine Jeffs and starring Elizabeth Banks, Simon McBurney, Mickey Sumner and Rena Owen. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the sci-fi drama Omni Loop written and directed by Bernardo Britto and starring Mary Louise Parker, Ayo Edebiri, Hannah Pearl Utt, Carlos Jacott, Chris Witaske, Harris Yulin, Eddie Cahill and Steven Maier. The film’s original music is composed by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith (Duck Butter). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a quantum physicist who finds herself stuck in a time loop, with a black hole growing in her chest and only a week to live, premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being distributed by Magnolia Pictures.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the British drama The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry directed by Hettie Macdonald and starring Jim Broadbent, Penelope Wilton, Earl Cave, Linda Bassett and Joseph Mydell. Ilan Eshkeri (StardustThe Young Victoria, Layer CakeKick-Ass, Still Alice, A Perfect Planet, A Shaun the Sheep MovieCoriolanus) has composed the film’s original score and Sam Lee has contributed two original songs. MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring both score and songs last year when the  movie opened overseas. Javier Gutiérrez and starring Víctor Clavijo, Ruth Díaz and Luis Callejo. The film’s original music is composed by Zeltia Montes (The Good Boss, Bird Box BarcelonaSad Hill Unearthed, Traces of Sandalwood, Adiós).
