Opening in New York and Los Angeles this weekend before expanding to more markets in the coming weeks is the drama Past Lives written and directed by Celine Song and starring Greta Lee, Teo Yoo and John Magaro. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Bear (High MaintenanceSwallowed) & Daniel Rossen (The Line) of Grizzly Bear. A24 Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score and a song by Sharon Van Etten next Friday, June 9. Opening in select theaters today before premiering next Friday, June 9 on Hulu is the biographical comedy drama Flamin’ Hot directed by Eva Longoria and starring Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, Tony Shalhoub, Emilio Rivera, Matt Walsh, Bobby Soto, Jimmy Gonzales, Pepe Serna and Brice Gonzalez. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Emancipation, The AffairWonderRay Donovan, The Good Shepherd) has composed the film’s original score. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music on June 9. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the drama Padre Pio directed by Abel Ferrara and starring Shia LaBeouf, Cristina Chiriac, Asia Argento, Marco Leonardi, Vincenzo Crea and Luca Lionello. The film’s original music is composed by Joe Delia (Bad LieutenantBody Snatchers, The Funeral, King of New YorkTommaso). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows the title character as he struggles with his faith while an Italian town is racked by political unrest at the end of WWI, premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and is being distributed by Gravitas Ventures.

Opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend is the French drama Rise (En Corps) co-written and directed by Cédric Klapisch and starring Marion Barbeau, Hofesh Shechter, Muriel Robin, Denis Podalydes, François Civil, Pio Marmaï and Souheila Yacoub. Shechter and Klapisch have composed the film’s original music. Because Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the artists’s score last year when the movie opened overseas.
