Mark Hadley (Double Walker, Survival Skills, Into the Dark: My Valentine) will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi comedy drama Linoleum. The album features the composer’s original score from the film and will be released digitally next Friday, February 24 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Linoleum is written and directed by Colin West and stars Jim Gaffigan, Rhea Seehorn, Katelyn Nacon, Amy Hargreaves, Gabriel Rush, West Duchovny, Michael Ian Black, Elisabeth Henry, Roger Hendricks Simon and Tony Shalhoub. The movie follows the host of a failing children’s science TV show as he gets a chance to fulfill his dream of becoming an astronaut by building his own rocket ship when a satellite falls from orbit and crashes into his family’s suburban home. The dramedy premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on February 24 by Shout! Studios.
Mark Hadley on his Linoleum score:
Linoleum is my second feature film collaboration with writer & director Colin West, and was a delightful project to be a part of. The score I wrote is a coalescence of organic and synthetic instrumentation. I utilized synthesizers and other electronic textures to bolster the role of space and astronomy in the film, and juxtaposed those tones with more human elements like piano and a string quartet to compliment the warmth and heartfelt nature of the story.
