Composer David Buckley (The Sandman, The Good Wife, The Forbidden KingdomNobodyPapillon, The Stranger) is reteaming with director Ric Roman Waugh on the upcoming action thriller Kandahar. The film starring Gerard Butler, Navid Negahban, Ali Fazal, Travis Fimmel & Elnaaz Norouzi follows an undercover CIA operative who is stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan and must fight his way out when his mission is exposed. Waugh (Shot Caller, Snitch) also wrote the screenplay with Mitchell LaFortune. Basil Iwanyk (John Wick, Sicario), Brendon Boyea (Voyagers) & Erica Lee (Bruised) are producing the project for Thunder Road, alongside Butler & Alan Siegel (Law Abiding Citizen, Olympus Has Fallen) for G-BASE, Christian Mercuri (Fall) for Capstone and Ali Jaafar (The Swimmers) and Scott LaStaiti (Jane Got a Gun) for MBC Studios. Buckley has previously scored Waugh’s features Angel Has Fallen and Greenland. Kandahar is set to be released in theaters nationwide next year by Open Road Films.

Buckley also continues to score Netflix’s The Sandman & The Lincoln Lawyer, which both have been renewed for a second season, as well as Paramount+’s Evil, which will return for a fourth season.
