Premiering in the U.S. today is the new television adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic adventure novel Around the World in 80 Days developed by Ashley Pharoah & Caleb Ranson and starring David Tennant, Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch. The show’s original score is composed by Christian Lundberg (Snatch, Earth at Night in Color, Eleven Eleven). Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) has contributed the main title theme. The adventure drama, which follows Phileas Fogg as he sets out on a quest to travel around the world, premiered in the UK last week on BBC One and is making its U.S. debut on PBS as part of the Masterpiece series.
Premiering tomorrow, January 3, is the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady developed by Miranda Kwok based on the Argentine series La Chica Que Limpia and starring Élodie Yung, Adan Canto, Oliver Hudson, Martha Millan, Faith Bryant, Sebastien & Valentino LaSalle and Sean Le. Mark Isham (Crash, A River Runs Through It, Once Upon a Time, Miracle, The Accountant, Judas and the Black Messiah) is composing the show’s original music. The series, which follows a group of young professionals as they are trying to navigate the ups and downs of life and love in Los Angeles, will air Tuesday nights on NBC. Also premiering on Tuesday following a sneak preview episode in December is the ABC comedy Abbott Elementary created by Quinta Brunson and starring Brunson herself, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph . The show doesn’t feature an original score. Kier Lehman serves as the project’s music supervisor. The series, which revolves around a group of teachers are brought together in a Philadelphia public school, will air every Tuesday on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu. Premiering on Wednesday, January 5, is the CBS drama Good Sam created by Katie Wech and starring Sophia Bush, Jason Isaacs, Michael Stahl-David, Skye P. Marshall, Davi Santos, Edwin Hodge and Wendy Crewson. The show’s original music is composed by Zach Robinson (Cobra Kai, Impractical Jokers: The Movie, Die Hart, Shelter in Place). The drama, which centers on a gifted heart surgeon who excels in her new leadership role as chief of surgery after her renowned boss falls into a coma, will air every Wednesday night on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
Premiering on Thursday, January 6, is the ABC limited series Women of the Movement created by Marissa Jo Cerar and starring Adrienne Warren, Tonya Pinkins, Ray Fisher, Cedric Joe, Glynn Turman, Carter Jenkins, Chris Coy and Julia McDermott.
