Netflix announced today that Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Chris Bacon (Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet, Bates Motel) are set to compose the original music for the streamer’s upcoming original series Wednesday. Elfman is writing the theme and is collaborating with Bacon to score the show created by Al Gough & Miles Millar (Smallville, Shanghai Noon) based on the characters from The Addams Family and starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams. Tim Burton is directing multiple episodes of the live-action coming-of-age comedy, which charts Wednesday’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy. Goygh & Millar and Burton are also executive producing the MGM Television production with Andrew Mittman (Elvis), Kevin Miserocchi, Kayla Alpert,Jonathan Glickman (Rush Hour, RESPECT) and Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Wednesday is expected to premiere in 2022 on Netflix.

Elfman’s other upcoming projects include Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Bryan Woods’ & Scott Beck’s sci-fi thriller 65 and the Disney+ animated series Rhona Who Lives by the River.
