Deadline is reporting that Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands) will create and oversee music on the upcoming Disney+ original animated series Rhona Who Lives by the River. The show is created by Emily Kapnek (Suburgatory, Splitting Up Together) and will star Karen Gillan as Rhona #3, the third-most-interesting Rhona in a small Scottish town, whose star rises after a freak clootie well accident results in bacterial pinkeye and the ability to make her own wishes come true. Elfman is also executive producing the 20th Television Animation production with Kapnek and Gillian. Stoopid Buddy Stoodios will provide animation. Rhona Who Lives by the River is currently in development.
Elfman’s other upcoming projects include Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022) and Bryan Woods’ & Scott Beck’s sci-fi thriller 65 (scheduled to be released theatrically on May 13, 2022).
