Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen) has composed the original score for the upcoming crime drama The Outfit. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) and stars Mark Rylance, Dylan O’Brien, Zoey Deutch and Johnny Flynn. The movie follows an English tailor who used to craft suits on London’s world-famous Savile Row who ends up on Chicago, operating a small tailor shop in a rough part of town where he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them: a family of vicious gangsters. Moore also co-wrote the screenplay with Johnathan McClain. Scoop Wasserstein, Ben Browning (Promising Young Woman, The Courier) and Amy Jackson (The Nest) are producing the FilmNation Entertainment production. The Outfit is set to be released in theaters on February 25, 2022 by Focus Features.
Desplat’s other recent projects include Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, which is currently playing in theaters. The composer also has Guillermo del Toro’s animated feature Pinocchio (premiering in 2022) coming up and is attached to score Ellen Kuras’ LEE and Rebecca Miller’s She Came to Me.
