The Lumineers, Judah & the Lion, Nate Ruess (of the indie pop band Fun) and Brandi Carlile have contributed original songs to the upcoming Netflix original film The Starling. The movie is directed by Theodore Melfi, written by Matt Harris and stars Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Kevin Kline, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Laura Harrier, Rosalind Chao, Kimberly Quinn, Loretta Devine and Ravi Kapoor. The comedy drama (scored by Benjamin Wallfisch) centers on woman’s battle with a territorial bird over dominion of her garden. The Starling will be released in select theaters on September 17 before premiering on Netflix on September 24.
