Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, The Gift, Enemy, Ozark, Fear the Walking Dead, American Gods) have been tapped to score the upcoming HBO limited series The Outsider. The show is developed by Richard Price (The Night Of, Ransom) based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same title and stars Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Bateman, Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, Yul Vázquez, Jeremy Bobb and Marc Menchaca. The drama centers on a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy that leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real. Price is also executive producing the project with Jason Bateman & Michael Costigan (Ghost in the Shell, Stoker) for Aggregate Films, Marty Bowen (The Maze Runner, Love, Simon) for Temple Hill Entertainment and Jack Bender (Lost, Mr. Mercedes). Bateman who is also collaborating with Bensi & Jurriaans on Netflix’s Ozark is also directing the first two episodes. The Outsider is set to premiere in 2020 on HBO.

Bensi’s & Jurriaans’s other recent projects include Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s The Current War, which is set to open in theaters on October 25, 2019, Veronika Franz’s  & Severin Fiala’s The Lodge, which will be released in theaters on November 15, 2019 by Neon, the Naomi Watts-starring thriller The Wolf Hour, which has recently been picked up by Brainstorm Media for U.S. distribution, the third season of Netflix’s Ozark, which is expected to premiere later this year, as well as the first season of On Becoming a God in Central Florida, which currently airs every Sunday night on Showtime.
